The iconic leather pants are a rock ’n’ roll staple, and it is hard to imagine The Doors’ Jim Morrison without his sexy pair while he was performing on stage. At the height of their musical peak, rockstars like U2’s Bono have performed on stage in this overly sweaty piece of clothing while breaking millions of hearts. And, most of you might have given in to the temptation to emulate your favorite icon in an uncomfortable pair that can be a challenge to wear with comfort. Before music gods made it their go-to outfit, many Native American tribes wore animal skin as clothing prior to the European colonization in the seventeenth century, per Marie Claire. Leather had a more practical purpose as tribes wore it to keep warm and believed that wearing leather of an animal would give them the animal’s strength for protection. In the late nineteenth century, the culture of wearing leather became synonymous with cowboys and bikers.

Now leather pants have become extremely trendy as they give an edgy vibe and have extended beyond a basic cowboy or dominatrix’s outfit. The shopping app Klarna reported a considerable rise in the searches for leather clothing since 2020, 136 percent to be exact, with high-end designers including this nostalgic trend in their collections.
